Curriculum

Curriculum Aims

The aim of the curriculum at Palm Bay Primary School is to provide a broad, balanced, and inclusive education that meets the needs of all pupils and prepares them for the next stages of their lives.

Curriculum Structure

  • EYFS (Ages 4-5): In EYFS our curriculum follows the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum which is designed to support the learning, development, and welfare of children from birth to five years old. It is divided into seven areas of learning and development, which are further categorized into prime and specific areas.
  • Key Stage 1 (Ages 5-7): In Key Stage 1, our curriculum includes core subjects such as English, Maths, and Science, as well as foundation subjects like History, Geography, Art, and Physical Education. We use a variety of teaching methods to make learning engaging and fun.
  • Key Stage 2 (Ages 7-11): In Key Stage 2, we build on the foundations laid in Key Stage 1, with a continued emphasis on core subjects and an expanded range of foundation subjects. We encourage independent learning and critical thinking skills.

Enrichment Activities

To complement our formal curriculum, we offer a range of enrichment activities, including:

  • After-School Clubs: Various clubs such as sports, arts, and science to cater to different interests.
  • Educational Visits: Trips and events that provide real-world learning experiences.
  • Guest Speakers and Workshops: Opportunities for pupils to learn from experts in various fields.

Parental Involvement

We believe that families play a crucial role in their child's education. We encourage regular communication between school and home and provide opportunities for parents to be involved in school activities and their child's learning journey.

Assessment and Feedback

We use a variety of assessment methods to monitor and support pupil progress. Regular feedback is provided to both pupils and parents to ensure that everyone is aware of achievements and areas for improvement.
